What's the Point?

I have a couple of friends that own an Xbox 360, but are afraid to buy games for it and use it out of the fear that it will "red ring" on them. I think they're a bit crazy, if it's gonna red ring, it's gonna red ring regardless how much you use it. Secondly, what's the point of owning the thing if you don't use it? You bought it to play games, didn't you?
